Bulgarian champions Ludogorets sack Ribeiro

Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad sacked their Portuguese head coach Bruno Ribeiro on Wednesday, less than three months after his appointment, the club said in a statement.
Ludogorets said it proceeded to a "disciplinary sacking and unilateral termination of the contract" of Ribeiro following a number of failed attempts to part ways with him by mutual consent. The reason behind the sacking was "his prolonged absence from the job despite a standing and binding contract", the club added.
The 39-year-old signed a two-year deal with Ludogorets in mid-June, becoming the first foreigner to take the helm at the Bulgarian champions. The Bulgarian Football Union will have to approve Ludogorets' move.
The club from the obscure Bulgarian town of Razgrad reached the group stage of the Champions League last season, drawing with Liverpool and losing narrowly to Real Madrid, but were knocked out in the second qualifying round this season by Milsami Orhei of Moldova.
