Bulgarian champions Ludogorets brought back successful former coach Georgy Dermendzhiev on Friday after Eduard Eranosyan threw in the towel following a poor run of form.

Dermendzhiev, 60, was already at the helm in 2014/2015 and qualified the team for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, where they drew with Liverpool and lost narrowly to Real Madrid before being knocked out.

Dermendzhiev had left the club at the end of May but has now agreed to come back and signed a contract until June 2017, the club said on its website.

Eranosyan, 54, resigned late on Thursday following a string of poor results, although the club said in a statement they had tried, but failed to persuade him to stay.

Eranosyan was Ludogorets' second coaching change in five months after the sacking in August of Portuguese Bruno Ribeiro after just three months in charge.

The club from the town of Razgrad are currently third in the Bulgarian League, four points behind leaders Levski Sofia after 14 games.
