While Germany’s champions have already been crowned, the contenders for second place are locked in a tense battle that will only be resolved on the last day of the season. Meanwhile, in the land of the world champions, Washington were pegged back for the first time in this campaign while the picture remains unchanged in Sweden. Sweden: No change at the top
It was business as usual in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan as Rosengard and Linkopings both secured another three points to give themselves a five-point advantage over their nearest challengers at the top of the table. Rosengard brushed aside Mallbackens 6-0 while Linkopings recorded a similarly comfortable 4-1 win.

Five-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year Marta opened the scoring for Rosengard, opening the floodgates for Lieke Martens, Emma Berglund, a brace from Ella Masar McLeod and a further strike from Iina Salmi. Meanwhile, two goals from Pernille Mosegaard-Harder and one apiece from Tove Almqvist and Fridolina Rolfo got the job done for Linkopings, who will travel to Rosengard’s stadium for the eagerly anticipated league leaders’ showdown on 29 May.
