Head coach Age Hareide believes his Denmark side were drawn into an intriguing group after Friday’s FIFA World Cup™ Final Draw at the State Kremlin Palace. The Danes, who have played at the global finals four times – in 1986, 1998, 2002 and 2010 – were pitted against France, Australia and Peru.
"It’s a very interesting group with Peru from South America, France who are a very strong team, and Australia which is far away from us and a little bit unfamiliar," said Hareide. "It’s spread all over the world, so it’s very interesting."
While familiar with fellow European nation France, Hareide admits that South American side Peru and Asian zone’s Australia will present new tests for the Danes.
"It’s always interesting to come up against teams who you don’t play against that much. That’s the fine thing about the World Cup. We now play a South American team, Australia, and one of the top teams from Europe. I’m very pleased with that.
"We have to study them now. We know a lot about France, but we don’t know much about Australia and Peru, so we have to study them and make up our thoughts about them."
