Swansea sign ex-Spurs midfielder Giancarlo Gallifuoco

Swansea City have signed former Tottenham midfielder Giancarlo Gallifuoco on a one-year contract.

The 20-year-old did not have his White Hart Lane deal extended and will now join the Swans’ U21 squad.

Australia-born Gallifuoco spent three years with Spurs and played in the same development side as Swans loanee Tom Carroll.

"I'm very excited," he said. "It's the perfect club for me to take the next step in my career and I can't wait to get started.

"I had a brief chat with Garry Monk and he said that there are opportunities at this club if I work hard and that's what I intend to do.

"I was excited when I learned of the club's interest and it's a Premier League club that plays brilliant football and I'm delighted to be here."

Giancarlo's arrival in Swansea reunites him with fellow new recruit James Demetriou, with whom he played alongside at U11 level in Sydney, Australia.
