Butler relishing Walsall return

Andy Butler has vowed to "give everything" after returning to Walsall on a short-term loan deal.

The defender left the Banks's Stadium in the summer and signed a two-year deal at Sheffield United.

But he has made just one start under Nigel Clough and has been allowed to leave Bramall Lane for a month.

Butler, who captained the Saddlers for three years, is in line to face Preston on Saturday in League One and is delighted to return.

"It's great to be back here. It was a tough decision for me to leave in the summer; I didn't leave the club on bad terms, it was more for off-the-field reasons so hopefully the fans can understand this," he told the club's official site.

"I'm going to give everything I've got during my time here; I just want to be out there playing football and making a contribution.

"As a professional when you are not playing, it does get you down, but the opportunity to get back into action has certainly put a smile on my face.

"Hopefully I can slot straight back in and help the club return to winning ways. It's a tough start for us against a strong Preston side, but I can't wait to be honest.

"I've got a lot of friends at this club and also enjoyed a good relationship with the fans, so I am delighted to be back."
