Derby midfielder Jeff Hendrick does not need shoulder surgery

Derby have received some positive injury news after learning that midfielder Jeff Hendrick does not require shoulder surgery.

Hendrick dislocated the joint during the Rams' Sky Bet Championship draw with Ipswich at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.

The 22-year-old saw a specialist on Wednesday and has been told he will not need an operation as part of his rehabilitation.

Derby expect the Republic of Ireland international to be back in action by the end of the month.

"After undergoing a series of tests and visiting a specialist earlier this morning, it has been confirmed that Jeff Hendrick will not need to go under the knife in order to return to fitness," said the Rams in a statement on the club's official website.

"He will instead work on a short rehabilitation with the Rams' medical team at the training centre.

"It is expected that the player will be available for selection again within the month of September."

Hendrick has started all seven of Derby's matches so far this season, scoring in the club's first two games as the Rams defeated Rotherham and Carlisle.
