Gylfi Sigurdsson enjoying life back at Swansea
Gylfi Sigurdsson believes Swansea City's style of play suits his game and has helped them to make a 'fantastic' start to the season.
Garry Monk’s men sit second in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea as the only two sides to have taken maximum points from their opening three fixtures.
Sigurdsson has played a leading role in the emphatic opening, with a crucial winner netted against Manchester United on the opening weekend and four assists already laid on.
he decision to bring him back to the Liberty Stadium for a second spell is already looking like an inspired decision, as part of a deal which took Ben Davies to Tottenham Hotspur, and the 24-year-old playmaker admits he could not be happier with how things have gone.
Sigurdsson said in the South Wales Evening Post: “I’m really enjoying it.
“You’ve got Jonjo (Shelvey) and Ki (Sung-yueng) behind me who are passing the ball really well and are easy to link up with.
“The two wingers are playing well and so is (Wilfried) Bony up front. It’s very good.
“The way Swansea play football is fantastic, and I think we’ve shown that.
“I think we’ve shown in the last few games that we play fantastic football, but the most important thing is not to get carried away.
“We need to get as many points as we can in the next few games and that’s our aim.”
Next up for Swansea after the international break is a trip to Stamford Bridge – meaning something will have to give as two perfect records are put on the line.
Sigurdsson added: “I don’t think anyone expected us to have nine points from the first three games.
“We can go there and enjoy it, play our football and see what happens.
“We’ll play our normal game, set the team up and play like the manager wants us to.
“Hopefully we can get another clean sheet, that would be really good for us because with the players we’ve got, we know we’re always going to score goals.
“But if you look at their squad, it’s very strong with some fantastic individual players.
“They’ve brought a couple of players in who are world class, so I’m sure they’ll be right up there this season.”
