Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle has revealed new boss Chris Powell blocked a possible move to Millwall for Sean Scannell.

Millwall hoped to sign Scannell before the close of the transfer window and are thought to have agreed a fee for the winger.

However, Huddersfield pulled the plug on the deal after incoming boss Powell decided he wanted to keep Scannell at the club.

Hoyle also revealed that Powell gave the green light for Huddersfield to bring in defender Mark Hudson from Cardiff on transfer deadline day.

"Getting Mark Hudson is a real coup for our club, it's hand in glove and a perfect fit. Chris bought into that move, he knew what was happening and he gave the thumbs up," Hoyle told the Huddersfield Examiner

"It was the same with Sean Scannell and the possibility of him going to Millwall. They put in a bid and we said to Chris ‘what about Sean Scannell going?'.

"Chris told us he didn’t want Sean Scannell leaving this club because he would be a big part of his plans, so we blocked that move."
