Manchester City v Sheffield Wednesday team news
Pablo Zabaleta's suspension will keep the Argentina defender out of Manchester City's home game against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.
Zabaleta is banned after being sent off against Chelsea, while Sergio Aguero, who suffered a kick on his knee, and David Silva (ankle) will also miss out as City begin the defence of their trophy. The pair should recover for Saturday but Samir Nasri (groin) could be out for a week.
Stevan Jovetic (hamstring) and midfielder Fernando (groin) remain out.
Sheffield Wednesday's on-loan pair Royston Drenthe and Hallam Hope are expected to feature having been given permission to play by respective parent clubs Reading and Everton.
Boss Stuart Gray has no new injury or suspension worries, but is still without midfield duo Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchinson.
Lee has appeared only twice for the Owls this season due to a groin injury, while Hutchinson has missed the last six games because of a back problem.
Fellow midfielder Jeremy Helan will be hoping for a recall to the starting line-up against his former club, while goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, striker Gary Madine and defender Lewis Buxton are in contention.
