Rotherham boss Steve Evans unlikely to make more signings
Rotherham are unlikely to make any more signings before the end of the month, according to manager Steve Evans.
The Millers have already made 17 additions to their squad this summer as they attempt to establish themselves in the Sky Bet Championship following back-to-back promotions and have smashed their transfer record twice, for Jordan Bowery and Jonson Clarke-Harris.
Evans has targeted further players with "serious fees", but will not bring them until September 30 when an emergency loan would stretch through until January, allowing a permanent deal then to be completed.
"We are always looking to bring in," Evans said. "We are looking quite seriously at one or two that would have serious fees and if we bring people in on sizeable fees that will be two to three weeks (before we sign them).
"We could bring them in on an emergency loan basis but the max is 93 days. That is September 30 when we could sign them on loan until January and if everything is agreed then complete it.
"So we are looking for ins, but only if they can add to what we have got.
"We are trying to add selectively, we are not going to give names or positions, we will just go about our business quietly."
Evans has never been shy to enter the transfer market and has done some impressive business while in charge at New York.
But he has also brought in several players who have failed to impress and the Scot knows he cannot get them all right.
"You get some signings wrong," Evans added. "For all the analysis you do and scouting you do, you get some wrong.
"Over the piece we have got things right, we have brought more money in than we have spent.
"And we have gone up two levels all in line with our budget, so we have got a very happy chairman."
