Royston Drenthe determined to do well at Sheffield Wednesday

Royston Drenthe is determined to put his Reading nightmare behind him after joining Sheffield Wednesday.

The former Real Madrid and Everton winger was frozen out by Royals boss Nigel Adkins this season before making a deadline-day loan switch to Hillsborough.

Drenthe told the Owls' website: "I cannot wait to start because I need to be playing football.

"Everyone at Reading has been great with me but I am a footballer who needs to be playing games.

"As soon as I was told of the interest from Sheffield Wednesday, my reaction was 'get me there' because this is such a great club and one that I think is going places."

The 27-year-old Dutchman is set to make his Owls debut against Bolton a week on Saturday.
