Crystal Palace host Leicester at Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace host Leicester City at Selhurst Park on Saturday in a clash of sides on a high after top-flight victories last time out.
The Eagles defeated Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park to post their first win in the Premier League under new boss Neil Warnock, who took over following Tony Pulis’s departure on the eve of the season.
The win came on the back of successive draws against Newcastle and Burnley as Palace find their feet under Warnock following opening losses to Arsenal and then West Ham.
While the Eagles suffered a 3-2 midweek Capital One Cup extra-time loss to the Magpies, they will bring plenty of confidence into this clash.
But it will be tough against the newly-promoted Foxes, who are on a high themselves after coming from behind to pull off a famous 5-3 victory over Manchester United last Sunday.
That win was Leicester’s second on the bounce in the Premier League, following a 1-0 success at Stoke the weekend before.
The wins – coupled with two home draws with Everton and Arsenal – see Nigel Pearson’s side sit in seventh in the table on their return to the top-flight for the first time since 2004.
Team news
Marouane Chamakh is available again for Palace.
The Morocco striker missed the win at Everton and the Capital One Cup loss to Newcastle with hamstring trouble.
Manager Warnock reported no further injury problems following the midweek loss to the Magpies.
Leicester boss Pearson has no fresh injury concerns ahead of his side's trip.
Defender Matthew Upson remains the only absentee with an ongoing calf issue, although Pearson has confirmed Zoumana Bakayogo - not listed in the squad at the start of the season - is to undergo surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
On-loan striker Nick Powell is available again after missing last week's 5-3 win over parent club Manchester United due to ineligibility.
Paul Merson’s prediction
I’m really tempted to go for an away win here because I’ve been so impressed with Leicester so far. The win over Manchester United was the icing on the cake and is a really massive result for that team. Likewise, Crystal Palace had a huge result against Everton, who I thought were a home banker last Sunday. Off the back of those results I don’t think there will be much between them in this game and I’ll go for a draw.
