Tom Rogic to be given opportunity to prove worth at Celtic
Celtic manager Ronny Deila has assured Tom Rogic that he will be given ample opportunity to secure a future at Parkhead.
The 21-year-old has found first team opportunities limited since arriving in Glasgow back in January 2013.
Injuries have done little to help his cause, with the youngster having been forced under the knife for a second time in a matter of months.
A niggling adductor problem is proving difficult to shake, with Rogic being denied the opportunity to fulfil his potential.
He is considered to be one of Australian football’s hottest prospects, but he is yet to make his mark in Scotland and saw a loan spell at Melbourne Victory cut short last season.
That setback dashed his World Cup dreams and has prevented new Celtic boss Deila from getting a look at Rogic in competitive action.
The Norwegian is, however, prepared to be patient and will only pass judgement on Rogic and where he figures in his long-term plans once he has returned to full fitness.
Deila said in the Evening Times: “He’s had a new operation so it will take time to heal. He’ll not be playing again this year.
“I haven’t seen him play so much, we’ll need to wait until he’s back but that will take some months.
“We’ve spoken as he’s training with us, but it’s on the pitch I have to see him.”
