Adelaide leave it late, Sydney fire four

Adelaide United stepped up the pressure on the Australian A-League pace-setters with a last-minute winner against ten-man Western Sydney Wanderers.

Adelaide trailed to Labinot Haliti's goal but Bruce Djite equalised six minutes after half-time and, after Wanderers defender Matthew Spiranovic was sent off, Sergio Cirio scored to earn the 2-1 victory. The result leaves United third in the table, level on points with second-placed Melbourne Victory and a point behind Perth Glory. Perth play Melbourne City on Sunday.

Sydney FC beat Central Coast Mariners 4-2 with goals in the final ten minutes from Shane Smeltz and Marc Janko. Austria striker Janko had opened the scoring in the 14th minute but Fabio Ferreira struck twice to give Central Coast the lead.

But Rhyan Grant equalised, fellow substitute Smeltz scored the crucial third Sydney goal and Janko made the game safe in stoppage time.
