Zinnbauer: I'll never forget Bayern hiding

Hamburg coach Josef Zinnbauer will "never forget" the day his side were hammered 8-0 by Bayern Munich. The northern Germany club travelled to Munich in confident mood after winning their last two games, but they came away with the second hiding in as many years having been beaten 9-2 at the Allianz Arena in 2013.

"It's one of those days that I am never going to forget for the rest of my life," Zinnbauer said at the post-match press conference. "Not because it was Valentine's Day, but because it was such a bad result.

"I think when you lose 8-0, there's not much to say really. Maybe all we can do is apologise to the fans. Six thousand of them came here and saw us lose 8-0. It's incredible for me. We were up against a side who could do what they wanted to."

Hamburg held their own for 20 minutes until a Thomas Muller penalty let Bayern in, and from that point on there was only one team in the game, with Muller, Arjen Robben and Mario Gotze grabbing braces and Robert Lewandowski and Franck Ribery also finding the net.

"Overall, I think even the margin of victory was fair," Zinnbauer said. "I would never have thought we would have lost 8-0. I think anybody who plays football knows how it doesn't help morale when you concede, especially not when it then goes 3-0, 4-0, 5-0.

"Bayern were world class today. Bayern are the best side in the world and while that still cannot be any justification for losing 8-0, we at least hoped it wouldn't go into double figures."

With Wolfsburg snatching a late winner at Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern's lead at the top of the Bundesliga remains eight points.
