80 days to go - FIFA WOMEN'S WORLD CUP
Regulation time for matches at the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ was originally 80 minutes – two periods of 40 minutes. However, the competition regulations for the second tournament in 1995 were changed to 90 minutes – two periods of 45 minutes, which has been the case for every Women's World Cup since.
Those additional ten minutes have proven valuable ever since Sweden 1995. Two goals have been scored in the 81st minute or later of the Final, while several other late strikes have seen teams progress further in the competition.
