Tony DiCicco is the only coach to have led a women’s team to victory at both a FIFA Women’s World Cup™ and a Women’s Olympic Football Tournament. He first steered the USA to a gold medal finish in Atlanta at the 1996 Olympic Games, and in 1999 he was in charge of the Stars and Stripes side that won the Women’s World Cup Final in Los Angeles.
Under DiCicco's direction, USA earned gold in 1996 by beating China PR 2-1 in the Olympic final, and the Americans once again took down the Chinese, this time 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in the Final to lift the Women's World Cup in 1999.
