In an interview with the official magazine of the UEFA Champions League, the Barça forward talks about why he thinks the team are poised to win titles

With the season entering into its decisive and final phase, Luis Suárez approaches the end of his first campaign as a blaugrana. His hope is that he can add a trophy to his list of honours and for that to happen, he knows exactly what needs to be done: “Play in a team like this, in which every player wants to win every game, it’s the sign of success, whether it be league, the Champions League of any other competition. Our intention is to fight right until the end.”

Speaking in an interview with the official UEFA magazine, the Uruguayan striker reflects on his first year with FC Barcelona and how he has settled in. He also considers the possibility of lifting one of the three titles that Barça are still in contention for. “With the right attitude and great focus and footballing quality, in this team there is plenty of that, we know we can be successful,” he assured.

Suárez’s role

Since his arrival Luis Suárez has shown game after game his quality and his ability to help the team. “I try to make my team mates’ job easier. If you wear the number 9 on your back and you’re a striker, you need to score. But I am not obsessed with it, and I know my role in the team, because, aside from scoring goals, I have to help my team mates,” he added. For the striker, scoring is as only as important as creating goals: “It’s important to show both qualities out on the field of play.”
