500,000 football fans attended the 26 matches of the FIFA Women's World Cup China PR 1991™ nearly 24 years ago, with over 60,000 spectators on hand to watch the Opening Match and the Final, where USA beat Norway 2-1 in Guangzhou.
Amazingly, another 55,000 watched the rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony - also in Guangzhou - ahead of the Opening Match as the hosts beat the eventual runners-up 4-0.
