Pachuca edged a 3-2 home victory over Club America in the first leg of their Torneo Clausura quarter-final on Wednesday night.
Goals from Erick Gutierrez and Cristian Penilla put the hosts ahead before Michael Arroyo reduced the deficit after 36 minutes.
Ariel Nahuelpan made it 3-1 before the break, while Dario Benedetto completed the scoring for Club five minutes after the break.
Elsewhere, Joffre Guerron's 28th-minute equaliser for Tigres Monterrey cancelled out Javier Orozco's opener as they recorded a first-leg 1-1 draw away to Santos Laguna.
