The FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola completed its 62 day journey yesterday, Sunday 31 May, in the city that will host the Final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ in just over a month’s time. Vancouver held a thrilling three day fan experience at Metropolis at Metrotown that gave Canadian football fans a fitting finale to the tour that has visited 12 cities across the country.

Celebrations in the final stop began with an official ceremony held at the Creekside Community Centre Gymnasium that was attended by special guests including Hon. Dr. Hedy Fry, Member of Parliament for Vancouver and Raymond Louie, Acting Mayor, City of Vancouver. Following the ceremony, young female football players from local clubs Fusion FC and Richmond Girls Soccer Club had their chance to get their photo with the Trophy and also practice their skills on a mini football pitch.

From Friday 29 to Sunday 31 May the Trophy then held court at the public fan experience in Metropolis at Metrotown and gave residents of Vancouver a look at the treasured item that will be lifted by the next FIFA Women’s World Cup™ champions in BC Place on 5 July. The experience once again gave fans the chance to answer questions in the FIFA locker room quiz, met Official Mascot Shuéme, test their skills against the Robot Goalie and lived the dream of walking through the Winner’s Tunnel before coming close to the holy grail of women’s football. And of course, everyone who came to the experience were able to take home a photo with the official FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy.

This first ever edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola proved a roaring success across Canada, travelling over 8,500 km to reach almost 50,000 fans in cities from coast-to-coast including Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.
