A second-half brace from Federico Dionisi in a 2-0 defeat of Empoli earned Frosinone an historic first Serie A win, as Sampdoria were stunned 2-1 away to Atalanta.

Frosinone have made a slow start to life in Italy's top flight, although last season's Serie B runners-up hit the headlines last week for holding champions Juventus to a 1-1 draw. Roberto Stellone's men were overjoyed after claiming their first ever Serie A point in Turin, and the coach -- a former Torino player -- was just as ecstatic after a maiden win that moved Frosinone out of the bottom three to 16th, just one point behind struggling Juventus.

"We've taken three points that are very important for us in terms of the league standings, and our morale," Stellone said. "We're no longer last in the table and it's important to have beaten a side that, in my opinion, will be fighting along with us for top flight survival at the end of the season."

Sampdoria travelled to Bergamo looking to build on last week's precious 2-1 win over scudetto hopefuls Roma. But Walter Zenga's men fell behind to a Niklas Moisander own goal in the seventh minute and German Denis wrapped up the points in the first minute of injury time after beating the offside trap to fire Maxi Moralez's through ball past Emiliano Viviano.

Samp midfielder Roberto Soriano hit a late consolation, but it was not enough to stop the visitors conceding a second defeat of the season that saw them drop to ninth, one point behind Atalanta and five behind leaders Fiorentina.
