Russian Premier League leaders CSKA Moscow saw their perfect start to the season ended by reigning champions Zenit St. Petersburg in a 2-2 draw on Saturday. The Red Army side led 2-0 after an own goal by Zenit defender Nicolas Lombaerts and a strike from Seydou Doumbia but goals from Hulk and Igor Smolnikov salvaged a point for the title holders.
CSKA remained top of the table, five points ahead of city rivals Lokomotiv who suffered their first defeat of the campaign, losing 3-1 at Rubin Kazan, with Zenit one point further back in third.
Elsewhere, goals from Carlos Eduardo, Maxim Kanunnikov and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov steered Rubin Kazan to just a second win of the season with Alexandar Samedov's strike coming in vain for previously unbeaten Lokomotiv. Amkar Perm and Kuban Krasnodar battled to a 1-1 draw with goals coming on either side of half-time.
