Bournemouth's highly rated manager Eddie Howe has signed a contract extension, the English Premier League club announced on Thursday. Howe, 37, was already under contract until 2018, but the club's promotion from the Championship last season reportedly activated a clause prolonging it..

"I am very pleased," Howe told the club's official website. "I think everyone is well aware of my feelings for this football club.

"It means everything to have the supporters and the current people above me support me. For them to be happy with the work I and my very good staff are doing gives us great confidence. It's very rare these days. The job of a football manager is very precarious, but I feel we have a slightly unique relationship."

Howe first joined Bournemouth as a schoolboy player and has overseen the club's rise from the fourth tier to the Premier League during his two spells as manager, masterminding three promotions. Bournemouth were promoted from the Championship as champions last season and are currently 15th in the Premier League table with eight points from eight games.

"I am delighted that Eddie has committed his future to the club," said owner Maxim Demin. "Together we have managed to achieve a great deal in a short space of time, and I have complete faith in Eddie and his management team to establish AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League over the coming seasons."
