FIFA launches VKontakte account - RUSSIA 2018
FIFA.com |
As the countdown to the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017™ and FIFA World Cup 2018™ continues, FIFA has launched a new digital presence for Russian-speaking fans. VK.com has over 360 million registered accounts, and is visited by over 90 million users monthly.
One of FIFA’s key objectives is to engage football fans around the world, and an official FIFA presence on VK signifies a further commitment. The official www.vk.com/fifaworldcupaccount went live yesterday, to coincide with the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Europe, on the road to Russia.
A further FIFA VK account will go live very soon, in the build-up to the launch of the Official Mascot, to be voted for by Russian fans.
FIFA’s digital platforms provided a fitting platform for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, matching a successful tournament on the field with wide-reaching, innovative coverage off it.
In 2014, the FIFA World Cup was the biggest sports event in digital history, with FIFA’s digital platforms touching one billion fans around the world, who spent the equivalent of 10,000 years engaging with it, on FIFA.com, m.fifa.com, the FIFA app, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Russian speaking fans can also follow the build-up to both tournaments at:http://ru.fifa.com/confederationscup and http://ru.fifa.com/worldcup.
