The FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, which is taking place in Russia in June/July, is increasingly making its presence felt among locals and visitors in the country.
Airport passengers in the Host Cities of the upcoming tournament can now familiarise themselves with both the FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Special exhibitions have been set up in various airports around the country dedicated to the “Tournament of Champions”, which will be staged in Kazan, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi.
One such colourful display, designed in the signature style of the FIFA Confederations Cup Host Cities, has appeared in Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow. On Wednesday 18 January, a ceremony was held to open the exhibition, involving the CEO of the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee Alexey Sorokin and the first deputy CEO of the airport itself Andrey Nikulin. Former Russia captain and current World Cup Ambassador Alexey Smertin was also present at the event, along with Russia 2018's Official Mascot Zabivaka the wolf to entertain passers-by.
“The exhibitions in the airports of the biggest cities in our country are part of the large-scale advertising and information campaign to support the FIFA Confederations Cup,” Alexey Sorokin explained. “This campaign aims to inform the locals and visitors in Russia about the “Tournament of Champions”, where the best national teams on the planet will gather. I'm sure we'll see packed stadiums at the Confederations Cup this summer and global stars playing beautiful football. For our part, the Local Organising Committee will do everything possible to ensure the tournament is organised at the highest level.”
“The opening of this special exhibition dedicated to the FIFA Confederations Cup in Sheremetyevo Airport has created a festive atmosphere for our passengers, guests and staff,” Andrey Nikulin said. “Sheremetyevo Airport is building a series of important facilities ahead of the World Cup: a new Terminal B serving 20 million passengers, the third runway etc. This will allow us to meet guests and participants at the World Cup in the best possible fashion.”
The exhibition provides information on the competing teams at the Confederations Cup, the competition's fixture list and stadiums and how to purchase tickets via the website FIFA.com/ticket.
Similar displays to the one recently opened at Sheremetyevo can also be found in airports in Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Samara and Ekaterinburg, while more exhibitions will be opened in Nizhniy Novgorod, Sochi, Volgograd, Saint Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport and Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport in the near future.
Elsewhere, billboards and advertising spaces in Moscow and other cities have also been drawn up in the FIFA Confederations Cup brand image, along with buses and trolleybuses in the capital and the Moscow Metro.
