43 days to go: Parreira's perfect double
Of all nine coaches who have tasted victory at the FIFA Confederations Cup, Brazilian trio Mario Zagallo, Carlos Alberto Parreira and Luis Felipe Scolari stand out, having won both the Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup™.
Born in 1943, Parreira achieved the feat in 2005 at 62-years-old, which makes him the youngest of the three to have won both tournaments.
Over a decade after his team triumphed at the 1994 World Cup, Parreira steered his charges to a fantastic victory in Germany. Instrumental in that success were the attacking quartet of Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho and Adriano, who tore Argentina apart in a 4-1 triumph in the final.
