Final preparations taking place in FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 Host Cities
Exhibition dedicated to the tournament opened on Moscow Metro
Supporters can use updated metro guide
An exhibition dedicated to the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 was opened at the Vorobyovy Gory metro station in Moscow on Tuesday 13 June. Muscovites and tourists visiting the station can now learn interesting facts about the Tournament of Champions, which is taking place from 17 June to 2 July in Russia.
The eye-catching exhibition has been put together using the brand image of the FIFA Confederations Cup, allowing passengers to familiarise themselves with the competition’s look. Deputy CEO of the Moscow Metro Alexei Ilinykh was joined by 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Ambassador Dmitri Bulykin for the opening of the exhibition.
The exhibits have been put on display within glass cases on the station’s platform itself. Eight windows are dedicated to each country competing at the Confederations Cup, containing information about their former achievements, which days they are playing and other interesting facts. The bottom quarter of every display is filled with replicas of the adidas Official Match Ball Krasava and there are also mannequins wearing the football kits of every national team.
A separate window explains about the Volunteer Programme at the tournament and features another mannequin, this time dressed up in the adidas uniform volunteers will be wearing. Plenty of information detailing what sort of work volunteers will be doing at the Confederations Cup is on display as well. The final part of the exhibition is set aside for the Host Cities of the competition: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi and Kazan. Here you can also see the figure of the Russia 2018 Official Mascot, the wolf Zabivaka™.
"Our new exhibition is eye-catching and interesting," said the CEO of the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee Alexei Sorokin. "It offers yet another opportunity for locals and visitors in the capital to learn about the Tournament of Champions, such as which national teams are travelling here to compete and delight the fans with their beautiful football. We’re down to the last few hours before the Confederations Cup gets under way and we’re finishing off the final preparations. We cannot wait to see spectators at the stadiums!"
"We’re ready for the Moscow Metro to be the main transport artery for supporters coming to Confederations Cup matches here,” said Ilinykh. “We have updated the metro guide and are continuing to do so, providing directions in English. Staff in the ticket offices and elsewhere have received lessons in English too. A few days ago, a section on the Confederations Cup, created in conjunction with the LOC, was added to the Moscow Metro mobile phone app."
"I’m sure that the opening of this exhibition will be a great gift for football fans,” said Bulykin. “On match days in Moscow, people with tickets and their FAN ID can travel to the Spartak Stadium for free, which will make Confederations Cup matches more accessible for supporters."
Last winter, special trains designed in the Confederations Cup style were seen on the Circle Line in Moscow and on the Saint Petersburg Metro as well. Exhibitions on this summer’s tournament were also opened in airports in Host Cities of the Confederations Cup and World Cup.
