Rosario stay perfect, San Lorenzo lose
Rosario Central maintained their 100 per cent winning start to the Argentinian Primera Division after Franco Niell's late goal lifted them to a 1-0 victory at Crucero del Norte. The visitors had won their opening two league matches but were on course to drop points for the first time of the campaign until Niell struck three minutes from time. They are now the only team on nine points although Boca Juniors, Velez Sarsfield and Estudiantes could join them in the next few days.
San Lorenzo had also won their opening two fixtures but they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to San Martin San Juan, who claimed their first win of the term. Carlos Bueno gave the away side the lead midway through the first half and although Mauro Cetto levelled matters in the 79th minute, San Lorenzo were condemned to defeat when Marcos Figuerroa netted eight minutes from time.
Independiente remain unbeaten after beating ten-man Quilmes by the same scoreline. Federico Mancuello's ninth minute opener for visiting Independiente was cancelled out by Rodrigo Gomez before half-time, but Lucas Albertengo scored what would prove to be the winner midway through the second half, with Quilmes' bad day compounded by Diego Buonanotte's 74th-minute dismissal.
Union Santa Fe and Lanus moved onto five points from three matches after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Enrique Triverio almost immediately cancelled out Lautaro Acosta's 34th-minute opener for Lanus, who finished the match with 10 men when Matias Fritzler was sent off late on.
Finally, Carlos Luna's 20th-minute strike was enough to give Tigre a 1-0 win over Olimpo.
