Swansea sign James Demetriou on a free transfer

Swansea have signed former Nottingham Forest striker James Demetriou on a two-year deal.

Swansea boss Garry Monk moved for the 19-year-old after his contract at Forest expired and he will become part of the club's Under-21 squad.

Demetriou, who was born in Australia, is a Cyprus U21 international and joined Forest from Sydney Olympic last year.

"It's great to be here," he said. "It has taken a long time to get sorted but it feels good and I just want to get my head down now and focus on the season ahead.

"Swansea are a Premier League club, they play a great brand of football and they are a team that gives young players an opportunity.

"My short-term aim is to get game time and try to score as many goals as I can, but long-term I want to break into the first team here and impress the manager."
