Transfer news: Wolves among those keen on Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has admitted to being among those to have enquired as to Patrick Bamford's availability.
The 20-year-old Chelsea striker is expected to be on the move in the near future, with there considerable international experience ahead of him in the Stamford Bridge pecking order.
Spells at MK Dons and Derby County in the recent past have shown that Bamford is a goalscorer at Football League level.
His efforts have drawn attention from a number of clubs, with Middlesbrough understood to be leading the chase.
Wolves have, however, expressed their interest and are waiting to discover whether there will be any further movement on that particular front.
Jackett said in the Express and Star: “We’ve enquired about him in the past but I don’t know currently what’s happening with him and where he’s going.
“I don’t know what his options are and where he stands in Chelsea’s pecking order. At one stage it seemed he was quite high, but is he falling down it now?
“We’re not necessarily in regular touch with regard to where he’s going next, if he goes anywhere.”
One man who has made the move from Stamford Bridge to Molineux is midfielder George Saville, with Jackett delighted to have secured the 21-year-old’s services on a three-year contract.
He added: “I think Saville can do a bit of everything, but generally he likes to attack.
“He’s a very good all round midfielder that we’ve done well to get.
“He’s one of those players we could have waited a year or two and he’ll be worth a lot more and sometimes those players become very difficult to buy.
“There were several other clubs at this level interested in him. But once he saw Wolves were interested and he came here, and having seen us last year (while on loan at Brentford), he thought he could fit in.”
