Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho hails departed striker Fernando Torres

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Fernando Torres after loaning the striker to AC Milan for the next two seasons.

Torres, 30, arrived at Stamford Bridge from Liverpool in a £50m switch back in 2011, but failed to reproduce his best form in a Chelsea shirt and was allowed to leave in the wake of the signing of Spain hitman Diego Costa.

Speaking at a UEFA coaching seminar in Nyon, Mourinho said: "I'm an Interista and I would have preferred if he'd gone to Inter.

"However, I hope that he does equally well at Milan. What I can say about Fernando is that as a person and a professional, there is nothing to doubt about him.

"He's a fantastic boy and a great professional. However, he needed a change of scenery."

Mourinho added veteran striker Didier Drogba and former QPR striker Loic Remy to his striking options ahead of the transfer deadline.
