Promising defender Joe Gomez signs new Charlton deal
Charlton's teenage defender Joe Gomez has penned a new three-year deal at The Valley.
The 17-year-old has this season started five games for the Addicks, who are one of just two clubs still with an unbeaten record in the Sky Bet Championship.
England Under-19 international Gomez only made his debut for the club in August but is the latest promising Academy product to break into the London club's first team.
"I'm happy that it's done and that I can push on now,"he told the club's official website.
"It's a relief because the intention was to get it done as quickly as possible. It's taken a little while but it's good that it's done now and I'm happy.
"It's nice that the young players here are being given a chance to play, that's obviously exciting for us and it was a big incentive to sign."
