Flitcroft has Hope in mind

Hallam Hope's name is likely to crop up in discussions when David Flitcroft conducts a recruitment meeting with Bury's hierarchy this week.

The Shakers are light up front following the news that Clive Platt was forced to retire because of a calf problem, while Daniel Nardiello has also missed out recently because of a groin strain.

Everton forward Hope, 20, was at the JD Stadium on a loan deal last season and struck five goals in eight appearances, including a hat-trick against Portsmouth.

Flitcroft was keen on bringing Hope back into his squad when he was made available for loan again earlier this season, yet the striker elected to join Sheffield Wednesday.

However, after appearing just four times for the Owls, Hope has been recalled by Everton and the Shakers will be monitoring his situation in case he is sent out on loan once again.

"You never say never," Flitcroft said after Saturday's win over Cambridge.

"Hallam, for whatever reason, has gone back to Everton. Hallam did well here, he found a home here.

"We've got a recruitment meeting on Tuesday. We're light, we're down to 15 players now, but we have been all season and we've kept digging out results and utilising the squad quite well.

"We're looking to evolve and looking to make signings before the 27th of November."
