Team news for Petrofac Training Cup tie between Alloa and Rangers

Team news for Petrofac Training Cup tie between Alloa and Rangers

Rangers defender Lee Wallace has been ruled out of the Petrofac Training Cup semi-final against Alloa Athletic on Wednesday.

The former Hearts left-back is still struggling with the ankle injury he picked up in training last midweek which ruled him out of last Sunday's 3-0 Scottish Cup victory over Kilmarnock.

Richard Foster, who moved from his traditional right-back berth to deputise against Killie is again expected to switch along the back line with Darren McGregor assuming the No 2 duties at Indodrill Stadium.

Fellow defender Stevie Smith again misses out as he completes his two-match suspension following his red card in the recent 2-0 defeat against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Speaking ahead of the match, manager Ally McCoist told the club's official wesbite: "Waldo is still struggling but he is a lot better than he was at the weekend.

“He could possibly have been involved tomorrow night but we don’t really want to take a risk over one or two things with him.

“Apart from him we came through the weekend unscathed and everybody else is absolutely fine and ready to be selected for tomorrow evening.”

The winners of the match will face Livingston in the final on April 5 next year.
