After Barça's last training session before traveling to Elche, Luis Enrique announced the squad for the opening game of the second half of the league season. The coach named 18 players to the squad for Saturday's 6.00pm (CET) match at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero. The list includes all first team players available except Masip and Rakitic, left out due to coach's decision, and the injured Mathieu, Douglas and Vermaelen.
The list for Saturday's match at Elche includes: Ter Stegen, Bravo, Montoya, Piqué, Sergio, Xavi, Pedro, Iniesta, Suárez, Messi, Neymar, Rafinha, Mascherano, Bartra, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Adriano and Dani Alves.
Before the squad list was announced, FC Barcelona made their final preparations for the opening game of the second half of the league season with a workout that included all available first team players. Luis Enrique oversaw the group and Jérémy Mathieu worked out on his own while continuing to recover from an injury to his left Achilles tendon. Douglas spent the morning in physical therapy.
After the session and the announcement of the squad list, Luis Enrique will appear at his traditional pregame press conference at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to talk about Saturday's match at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero. Kick-off is set for 6.00pm (CET).
