Southampton lose injured winger Sadio Mane for six weeks
Southampton winger Sadio Mane has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks with a calf injury.
The news is a blow for Saints - Mane had been in outstanding form, scoring in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea and the 2-0 win over Arsenal on New Year's Day.
Mane will not now feature in the Africa Cup of Nations although boss Ronald Koeman said he may travel to undergo tests with the Senegal medical team.
Koeman told the club's website: "Sadio has an injured calf muscle, it will be four to six weeks. Senegal maybe will call him up and see the player, but he will not play in the Africa Cup of Nations."
Mane - signed from Red Bull Salzburg for £10m in the summer - appeared to injure himself whilst celebrating his fine goal against the Gunners.
The arrival this week of Werder Bremen winger Eljero Elia, on loan for the rest of the season, now looks particularly timely for Saints.
