Despite losing to Japan on penalties in the Final of the FIFA Women's World Cup Germany 2011™, USA still lead the way as the most successful team in the history of the competition. With 27 wins in 36 fixtures, their win percentage is 75 per cent.
Just behind the Stars and Stripes are Germany who have 23 wins from 32 games – a win percentage of 72 per cent. The current champions, Japan, have surprisingly only won seven matches out of their 22 played, leaving them with a win percentage of 31.8 per cent.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are six teams who have participated in a Women's World Cup that are yet to win a match. Of those six sides, there are four - Mexico, Colombia, New Zealand and Korea Republic - who will have a chance at Canada 2015 to reverse their fortunes.
