Dundee United midfielder Paul Paton is out of the Northern Ireland squad

Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill will be without Dundee United’s Paul Paton when his squad gather on Monday.

The Irish Football Association confirmed the United midfielder is unavailable because of a knee problem.

Paton will miss the games against Scotland on Wednesday and Finland next weekend because of the injury.

O’Neill has moved quickly to call Milton Keynes Dons defender Lee Hodson into his squad as a replacement.

Paton, who was born in Paisley, had the chance to face his home country at Hampden Park.

Scotland will be without Fulham striker Ross McCormack for that match after he suffered a knee injury playing against former club Leeds in midweek.
