Blanc enjoys 'fun' Classique, Bielsa offers no excuses

Laurent Blanc has said that he had a lot of fun watching Paris Saint-Germain edge out Ligue 1 title rivals Marseille 3-2 in a thrilling Classique at the Stade Velodrome.

The hosts opened the scoring on Sunday night through Andre-Pierre Gignac, who would strike again before half-time after Blaise Matuidi had equalised for PSG. Marquinhos fired the capital club level once more shortly after the break and Jeremy Morel's own goal handed all three points to the reigning champions, who are now a point clear of Lyon at the top of the table.

With Marseille now five points behind his side, Blanc told psg.fr: "It's always important to win away from home, especially against a direct rival when there are only seven games left. We are very happy to have won, having taken control of the game in the second half.

"It was a fair result. There was a clash between two different styles and PSG took control of proceedings."

"It was a very open game, very fun to watch. The only negatives from the evening are the injuries to two of our players (David Luiz and Thiago Motta) because they have happened at a very difficult time in the fixture calendar."

Attacking midfielder Matuidi, who bent a sublime effort past Steve Mandanda in the first half, added: "It was not easy to win here. Tonight we lost two players to injury, it is sad and that is the downside of the evening. However, we are very happy to have won against a very good Marseille team.

"It was important to win here to take back first place as we know the championship will be hard until the very end. We will do everything we can to win the title."

Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa told om.net: "It was a fair result. There was a clash between two different styles and PSG took control of proceedings.

"Despite the fact L'OM played a good game, the Parisian game-plan was better. There was no element of luck involved or anything else like that, so that's why there can be no excuse."
