Denmark and Canada secure final seats for Munich
The sixth and final online qualification season for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2015 is over, marking the end of the qualification journey for the 2015 edition of the world’s largest gaming tournament. FIFA.com takes a closer look at the players and nations that performed at their peak in the final season.
The winners
BusiXavIniesta from Canada and Denmark’s LasseBaekkelund are the two confirmed winners from Online Season 6. BusiXavIniesta will be hoping to make history for Canada by bringing home its first ever FIWC title. Meanwhile LasseBaekkelund will be hoping to supplant countryman and reigning FIWC champion August Rosenmeier as Denmark’s world champion.
“I’m super excited for Munich. It will feel like a real World Cup with people representing their countries,” BusiXavIniesta told FIFA.com. “It's an incredible feeling. I never imagined qualifying for the FIWC!”
The Montreal-based gamer had to give Season 6 everything he had, with the competition fierce for the final available qualification seats at the Grand Final. “With everyone wanting to qualify at the last minute, Season 6 was really difficult,” he said. “The games where I was trailing behind were the toughest ones. It took a lot of concentration to win 90 games.”
The numbers
Gamers scored over 3.7 million goals in our final online season with Spain leading the goal scoring charts. In total over 900,000 matches were played in Season 6. Gamers from Nigeria helped secure the African nation the best Average Goals per Player ratio while EA SPORTS™ FIFA 15 gamers from Trinidad and Tobago helped secure the Caribbean nation the Most Active Country ranking for Season 6.
