Deportivo la Coruna sack coach Fernandez
Spanish La Liga strugglers Deportivo la Coruna have sacked coach Victor Fernandez after they could only manage a 1-1 draw with bottom side Cordoba on Wednesday.
"The board of Deportivo la Coruna have communicated to Victor Fernandez that as of this evening he is no longer the coach of the first team," Deportivo said in a statement.
"I have tried with all that I have," Fernandez said after his dismissal. "I want to thank everyone, fundamentally the players that have been a great asset and an extraordinary board,."
Deportivo lie just two points above the relegation zone and have not won in eight games stretching back to early February.
