FIFA President Blatter welcomes members of the German Bundestag
FIFA President Blatter today welcomed a delegation from the Sports Committee of the German Bundestag (parliament), led by its deputy chair Reinhard Grindel, to the Home of FIFA.
During the visit, the members of the Sports Committee received insight from different FIFA departments into the many activities of world football’s governing body and discussed a range of different football-specific subjects.
The talks covered several relevant topics, such as the results of the FIFA governance reform process, finance and compliance matters, medical aspects of football, and the preparations for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups™, as well as FIFA’s work in the area of football development and the fight against match manipulation.
FIFA President Blatter stressed that it was important for FIFA to maintain a regular dialogue with public authorities: “We appreciate the opportunity to engage in a constructive dialogue with governmental and public authorities of our member associations.”
“We gained good insight into the preparations for the World Cups in Russia and Qatar as well as information about improvements for migrant workers in Qatar, made possible in part thanks to FIFA’s ongoing commitment to the issue,” Reinhard Grindel said.
