Atletico PR moved to the top of the Campeonato standings thanks to a 2-1 victory at Joinville on Saturday. First-half goals from Nikao and Douglas Coutinho put Atletico in the ascendancy and they held on for all three points even after Rafael Costa pulled a goal back for the hosts with 15 minutes left.

Atletico moved into first place in the standings after earning a third victory from their first four matches of the new campaign.

Ponte Preta went second after recording a 3-1 victory at home against Chapecoense. Tiago Alves opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Biro Biro doubled Ponte Preta's advantage early in the second half.

Gil scored a consolation for Chapecoense in the 89th minute before Renato Caja added gloss to the scoreline with a third for Ponte Preta in time added on. Chapecoense's cause was not helped by defender Apodi's 62nd-minute sending-off.

Elsewhere, Avai picked up their second win of the season as Anderson Lopes and Roberto goals either side of Paulinho's strike earned a 2-1 success at Coritiba.
