Klinsmann adds three to USA squad for Brazil friendly

Jurgen Klinsmann has made three changes to his squad ahead of a friendly against Brazil on Tuesday that will be USA's last tune-up for its FIFA Confederations Cup play-off with Mexico. The Americans go into the clash at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, coming off a 2-1 friendly win over Peru on Friday.
On Sunday, Klinsmann said he had called up Toronto midfielder Michael Bradley, Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson and Stanford University forward Jordan Morris. As the three were added, defender Matt Besler and goalkeeper William Yarbrough have rejoined their clubs.
"We were impressed with Matt Besler this past week," Klinsmann said. "We definitely saw what we needed to see from him as we prepare for the Mexico clash and Sporting KC badly wanted him back for Wednesday, so we agreed to send him home."
Forward Clint Dempsey had been expected to join the team ahead of the Brazil friendly, but with Dempsey recovering from a hamstring injury it was decided to have him remain with his club team Seattle Sounders.
"He's still not 100 per cent and we agreed it's best to let him stay with Seattle to allow him to continue making progress ahead of next month's match against Mexico," Klinsmann said.
USA host CONCACAF Gold Cup winners Mexico at the Rose Bowl in California on 10 October for a berth in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
