A Live Your Goals Festival concluded on Sunday 14 February at King Abdulla II Park stadium in Al-Mogableen, in the Jordanian capital of Amman. More than 150 girls between the ages of six and 14 from schools in the region participated in the Festival.

The girls were supervised by 24 coaches from grassroots centres from across Jordan, as well as physical-education teachers from Amman schools. Three Live Your Goals ambassadors, Hiba Fakher Al Deen, Malak Shannak and Tasneem Abu Al Rob, also attended. The Festival featured several football-training courses, where the girls were introduced to basic football skills, while several other theoretical workshops focused on a number of important related issues.

Fadi Zureikat, Secretary General of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), praised the Festival and its impact on women’s football in Jordan. "Today we concluded the fifth Live Your Goals Festival, a series that kicked off in October 2014 in Amman before travelling to Zarqa, Irbid, Karak, and finally here in Mqablein in Amman's governorate," he said.

"More than 750 girls benefited from the Festival, getting the opportunity to get to know and play football. More than 120 physical education teachers were also trained, via workshops and courses designed to develop women’s football in Jordan. The grassroots centres also benefitted from the Festival, as it identified talented girls. This is part of the JFA's plans to develop women’s football in Jordan.

"Through the Live Your Goals Festival, we intend to make women’s football more popular and the leading women’s sport in Jordan,” he continued. “We want to raise awareness among the local community about the need to support this game and leave a legacy, especially as Jordan prepares to host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Jordan 2016. The aim is to develop women’s football over the coming years."

For her part, Hiba Fakher Al Deen, a member of the Jordanian U-17 women’s team and a Festival ambassador, had this to say: "The Live Your Goals Festival provides schoolgirls with a major opportunity to play football and unleash their creative talents and potential."

The Festival is the fruit of cooperation between FIFA, the Local Organising Committee of the U-17 Women's World Cup Jordan 2016, and the JFA.
