- Almost 200 young people keen to make the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup a resounding success
Most of the volunteers supporting the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 walked into the stadium in Nassau for the very first time on Monday 24 April.
Almost 200 Bahamians, many of them young students, will be lending a hand at this year’s tournament. Aged between 18 and 45, the volunteers are ready to extend a warm welcome to teams and visitors alike. They will be deployed to assist with practically every part of the competition, covering areas as diverse as media, hospitality and team services.
"Volunteers are vital for hosting events on this scale,” said Anton Sealy, President of the Bahamas Football Association, who was on hand to greet the group at the stadium. "Without voluntary help, we would not be able to function and host a tournament of the quality we are expecting and looking forward to."
Local Organising Committee volunteer coordinator Diondra Rollins added: "This will be a great, action-packed experience. The volunteers are excited about starting an adventure that will enable them to build new friendships, learn how a world-class event is staged and get to know other cultures. They are focused on making the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 a success."
The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 takes place in Nassau between 27 April and 7 May.
