ITU STAFF AND TDs' SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW

ITU STAFF AND TDs' SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW
Exclusive News

Tommy Zaferes - ITU Content Producer

1. Please describe your role /  position in ITU?
My official role is best labeled as "Content Producer". Each race I am in charge of creating and collegting media content for TriathlonLive.TV and @WorldTriathlon social media channels, as well as distributing content to athletes for them to be able to spread awareness of each event to all their followers. I come up with video ideas and word with the videographers/editors to make the vision a reality. I write questions for the serious interviews and all the fun/funny feartures we do with the athletes at events. I also am the welcome voice for every video we produce in each city. I do a FB live video at every event of the bike course preview explaining fun facts about each city we are in. I do an in-water photo gallery during the swim course preview by swimming the entire course with all the athletes have images to be posted on world triathlon social media and also so the athletes have images to post about the race. I am also the live reporter on TriathlonLive.Tv that interviews all the athletes 30min before the start of each race and about 15 min after each race. During the races I work as secondary photographer and get about 100 images of each gender for FB gallery post race.

@2. What is you goal and objectives of this year?
To help give the general public the most realistic and in depth look at draft legal triathlon I can, and to get as many ITU athletes and their true personalities out into the world as possible.

#3 What do you like most about your role?
While it's the same general role at each event, everything is constantly changing in terms of ideas and athletes, so nothing ever gets boring or statle. It's also a completely  different

kind of challenge than what any sort of "normal job" would bring.

#4. What aspect of your job do you find the most challenging?
Travel, and coordination/scheduling with the athletes. Also, memorizing names and something interesting about every athlete just in case I case I interview them on live tv (since we can't plan who I happen to run into and interview on live tv, I have have  to know the 55 men and 55 women at each event).

#5 Could you tell us about your best moment or the funniest experience since you joined ITU?
My best moment was at the Rotterdam Grand Final in 2017. I was shooting the and of the women's race from about 100m out from the finish line, and when my wife, katie Zaferes, came down the finish line she blew me a kiss and gave me high five.
