Manchester City's Aleksandar Kolarov wants transfer back to Italy
Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov wants to return to Italy to play in Serie A.
The 29-year-old has only started 11 league games for City this season with manager Manuel Pellegrini splitting left-back duties between him and Gael Clichy.
It has been suggested Kolarov could leave the Etihad Stadium as part of the summer restructuring the club may look to implement if they lose their Premier League title to Chelsea.
And Kolarov, who cost City £16m from Lazio in 2010, fuelled the speculation when revealing how well he felt Serbian compatriot Sinisa Mihaljovic has been doing as manager of third-placed Sampdoria.
"I'd like to return to Italy, but it's difficult," he told Sky Italia. "I'm happy for Mihajlovic; he's doing very well, as are Lazio.
"They're having a great season and I hope they can end it in third or even second place."
Kolarov is under contract at City until 2017, having signed a new deal last summer after a season which saw him make 45 first-team appearances.
"Last season I played a lot and I think I proved to people in the club that they can believe in me and the result was that I was offered a new contract and I was happy to sign," he added.
